Aanvullende informatie

Pedro IV's claim over Portuguese India was, by the late 1820s, already entangled in the dynastic crisis that would consume his attention entirely — his dispute with Miguel over the Portuguese throne effectively began the same year this coin was struck. The Diu mint, one of the oldest Portuguese operating mints in Asia, produced zinc coinage for local trade circulation where copper and silver were economically impractical for small transactions.

Zinc strikes from Diu are notoriously prone to corrosion and lamination, meaning survivors in collectible condition are genuinely scarce despite what were likely substantial original mintages for petty commerce use.
