Obverse description Crowned Portuguese royal arms (quinas shield) rendered entirely in dotted relief within a plain field, flanked by the divided mint mark letters D and A positioned to the left and right of the shield respectively. The shield is surrounded by a border of raised dots forming the coin's periphery. The design is characteristic of the cast tin coinage produced for Portuguese Indian territories, with the dotted technique giving the arms a distinctive stippled appearance.

A border of raised dots encircles the entire design at the periphery, consistent with the cast technique used throughout this series.
