| Obverse description | Central motif featuring the crowned Portuguese royal arms (quinas shield) displayed beneath a mural crown, cast in low relief within a plain round field. The mint mark letters D and A appear flanking the shield to the left and right respectively, denoting the Damão mint. The design is characteristic of the crude cast coinage produced for Portuguese India during the reign of King José I. |
