Obverse description Crowned Portuguese royal coat of arms occupying the central field, depicted in a primitive cast style characteristic of Indo-Portuguese subsidiary coinage. The mint letters 'B' and 'A' (for Baçaim) appear flanking the shield to the left and right respectively. The overall design is rendered in low relief with broad, simplified forms typical of locally cast copper-alloy issues.
