| 正面描述 | Central field displays the quartered coat of arms of Thurgau set within an elaborate ornate cartouche, featuring the traditional green and gold divisions of the canton. Flanking the shield at the base are two symmetrically arranged oak branches bearing acorns and foliage in high relief. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the design, separated from the central motif by an inner border. The overall style reflects early 19th-century Swiss cantonal heraldic engraving conventions. |

Thurgau only gained full cantonal sovereignty in 1803 under the Act of Mediation, which Napoleon imposed to reorganize the Helvetic Republic into a looser confederation. This 1808 issue is among the earliest autonomous coinage the canton ever produced — the window for such emissions was narrow, as Swiss monetary consolidation through the nineteenth century steadily eroded cantonal minting rights before federal unification extinguished them entirely by 1850.
