Obverse description Central field dominated by the pointed shield of Vaud, its lower half diagonally hatched to indicate the canton's traditional green-and-white arms, bearing the motto LIBERTE ET PATRIE in three lines across the shield face. The circular legend CANTON DE VAUD runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1804 displayed prominently in the exergue below a horizontal bar. The coin is struck within a finely beaded border.

Reverse description The denomination, rendered as the numeral 5 above the cursive legend BATZ, occupies the centre of the field, separated by a horizontal rule.
