Siam's government — not the central bank, which didn't yet exist — issued this note directly through the Ministry of Finance, a structure that persisted until the Bank of Thailand was established in 1942. The Series 3 designation reflects a reformulation of the note program under Rama VII, whose reign was already under severe political strain; the 1932 coup that ended the absolute monarchy came between the earlier series types and this one, making its continued use of royal nomenclature a deliberate act of institutional continuity by the new constitutional government.
De La Rue's London facility handled all printing. The Type I distinction within Series 3 typically relates to signature combinations on the face.
