Thailand's Series 2 notes were introduced under the Ministry of Finance rather than a central bank — Siam would not establish the Bank of Thailand until 1942. The 5 Baht type II distinction within P#17 relates to a signature change rather than any redesign of the plates, with different Finance Ministry officials authorizing successive printings across the 1929–1931 window.
De La Rue had supplied Siamese government notes since the late nineteenth century, giving the series a consistency of plate quality that outlasted multiple administrations. The watermark remains the primary security feature — no serial number prefix coding or color-shift inks of any kind.
