| Obverse description | Central field bearing a three-line Arabic legend filling the flan in a bold calligraphic hand, reading 'Sultan Mahmoud Khan, Glory to Him.' The inscription is enclosed within a dotted inner border that follows the irregular round periphery of the hammered flan, typical of Ottoman provincial coinage of the early nineteenth century. The script is rendered in a cursive style, with strokes of varying depth consistent with hand-struck dies. No effigy or pictorial device appears, in accordance with Islamic numismatic tradition. |
