| 背面描述 | The reverse displays Arabic inscriptions arranged in multiple lines across the field, with a prominent cross-shaped dividing element separating portions of the legend into quadrants. Small pellets or dots are disposed around the central motif and along the inner border, forming a decorative punctuation typical of North African billon coinage of this period. A beaded or toothed inner circle frames the design. The overall composition is characteristic of the debased coinage struck under Abdelkader's authority, reflecting both Ottoman numismatic tradition and local Algerian practice. |

Abd al-Qadir al-Jazairi established his emirate in western Algeria in 1832 as a direct response to French colonial expansion following the 1830 invasion. His administration built functioning state infrastructure — including a treasury and mint — out of near nothing, while simultaneously conducting military campaigns against French forces. These billon pieces represent one of the very few instances of an indigenous Algerian coinage, issued by a government that ceased to exist when Abd al-Qadir surrendered to General Lamoricière in December 1847.
