Reverse description The reverse is covered in multiple lines of bold Thuluth Arabic script filling the entire field, containing the royal titulature of Shah Ismail I. The legend opens with the honorific titles 'al-Sultan al-Adil al-Kamil al-Hadi al-Wali' (the Just, Perfect, Guiding, Protecting Sultan), followed by the kunya 'Abu al-Muzaffar' and the ruler's name 'Shah Ismail Bahadur Khan', with the invocation 'Khallada Allah mulkahu wa sultanahu' (May God perpetuate his kingdom and sovereignty). The mint name 'Darb Kashan' (struck at Kashan) and the AH date 912 appear in the lower portion of the field. The lettering is executed in a bold, slightly compressed Thuluth hand consistent with early Safavid die-cutting conventions, with the flan showing the characteristic irregularity of hammered production.
