Aanvullende informatie

Antarctica has no government, no treasury, and no monetary authority — making every "Antarctican dollar" a privately issued fantasy piece with no legal tender status anywhere on Earth. These are produced for the collector novelty market, typically by private mints operating under no national mandate.

Amundsen reached the South Pole on 14 December 1911, beating Scott's party by 33 days. The centenary of that arrival prompted a wave of commemorative merchandise in 2011, of which this piece is one example.
