| Obverse description | The obverse bears a multi-line Persian legend in bold Nasta'liq calligraphic script, elegantly rendered across the full field of the coin. The central inscription reads the royal minting verse attributing the coin to Shah Tahmasb II, 'Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction' (Sahib-Qiran), with divine sanction expressed through the phrase acknowledging the grace of God. The mint name Esfāhān (Isfahan) and the AH date 1142 appear in the lower register. The entire design is enclosed within a prominent beaded border, with floral rosette ornaments filling the interstices between the lines of text. |
