Obverse description Central device features the Austrian imperial double-headed eagle displayed, with both heads crowned and surmounted by a large imperial crown bearing a cross finial. The eagle's breast is charged with the quartered Austrian shield depicting the red-white-red arms. The wings are boldly spread and finely detailed with feather engraving, and the eagle's talons clasp a sword and an orb. The circular legend K·K·OESTERREICHISCHE SCHEIDEMÜNZE runs along the periphery in raised Latin lettering, enclosed within a uniform beaded border.
