正面描述 The note is printed in dark blue-black on plain paper within an ornate engraved border with guilloche work and corner numerals '5000'. The central text panel reads 'EL ESTADO DE BUENOS AYRES / Reconoce este Billete por / CINCO MIL / PESOS MONEDA CORRIENTE / Por el Directorio / del Banco y Casa de Moneda', flanked by two circular intaglio vignettes — the left showing a seated allegorical female figure with cornucopia and the right showing a classical figure on horseback. The date '1º MAYO 1856' appears at the bottom centre, with manuscript signatures of the Contador and Presidente below the central text.

备注

El Estado de Buenos Ayres existed as a politically separate entity from the Argentine Confederation between 1852 and 1861, following Urquiza's defeat of Rosas at Caseros and the subsequent refusal of Buenos Aires province to ratify the Santa Fe constitution. This note was issued under that breakaway provincial government, which maintained its own treasury, customs revenues, and paper money system entirely independent of the Confederation's finances based in Paraná.

The PS prefix in the Pick catalogue signals this is classified as a private or semi-official issue — appropriate given the contested legitimacy of the issuing authority at the time. Surviving examples from this short-lived series are genuinely uncommon.
