备注

The Bulgarian National Bank issued this note in the immediate aftermath of World War One, when Bulgaria — on the losing side — was facing punishing reparations under the Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine signed in November 1919. The monetary system was under severe strain, and high-denomination notes like this 5,000 Leva were a direct response to accelerating inflation that would only worsen through the early 1920s.

Printed domestically in Sofia rather than sent abroad to established security printers, which was the common practice for Bulgarian issues of the period. The decision reflects both wartime disruption to normal banking relationships and a degree of postwar isolation.
