The BCEAO's signature rotation is unusually well-documented on this series — the left-hand signature represents the national minister of finance from whichever of the eight member states held the rotating presidency, while the right-hand position was held by the BCEAO Governor. Alassane Ouattara appears on the earliest dates here; he left the governorship in 1994 to become Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, which explains the change. Charles Konan Banny then held the governorship for nearly a decade, his name appearing across the bulk of this run.
Collectors building a complete signature set face real work — thirteen distinct combinations across eleven years.
