备注

The BCEAO's 5000 Franc denomination serves the eight-member CFA franc zone, a currency union whose peg to the French franc — and later the euro — has remained fixed since 1948, with one significant interruption: the January 1994 devaluation that cut the CFA's value by exactly half overnight. That single event is embedded in this note's signature history; Soumaïla Cissé, who appears on the 1994 issue, was serving as Finance Minister of Mali during the adjustment period and would later run twice for the Malian presidency.

Charles Konan Banny's signature as BCEAO Governor runs unbroken across eleven years of this series — an unusual tenure that ended only when Kofi Annan appointed him to lead the Côte d'Ivoire national reconciliation process in 2005.
