| Obverse description | Printed on pink paper, the obverse is typeset in character throughout, framed by an elaborate guilloche border of repeating floral and rosette motifs in dark green. The denomination 'Fünf Millionen Mark' is set in large blackletter script across the upper portion, surmounted by the title 'Reichsbanknote' and a red serial number in the upper right. The lower section carries the date 'Berlin, den 20. August 1923', the issuing authority 'Reichsbankdirektorium', and two circular Reichsbank eagle seals flanking twelve facsimile signatures of the Direktorium members, with vertical anti-counterfeiting text running along both lateral margins. |
