| 表面の説明 | Printed in blue on a light green guilloche underprint, the obverse carries two allegorical figures flanking a central ornate text panel: at left, a male worker in workman's attire rests against a large gear wheel, while at right a winged-helmeted female figure — evoking Mercury or Industry — holds a caduceus and scales. The central hexagonal vignette bears the denomination in Gothic script with the issuing authority's text and date below, surmounted by an embossed oval seal of the City of Chemnitz. A red serial number and series designation appear at the foot of the panel, with three manuscript signatures above. |

Chemnitz was one of Saxony's principal industrial centers, and its municipal administration was among the many local authorities forced into emergency currency issuance during the hyperinflation of 1923, when Reichsbank supply simply could not keep pace with denomination demands. The Rat und Stadtverordnete — the combined city council — issued through local printer Richard Müller, keeping production entirely within the city. The embossed seal was the primary authenticity measure, which says something about how quickly counterfeiting concerns were balanced against the practical need to get paper into circulation fast.
