Obverse description Yellow-ochre underprint of repeating spiral guilloche rosettes fills the central field, framed by a multi-rule border of interlocking geometric and scroll ornaments in dark blue-black. The denomination "Fünf Millionen Mark" is set in large decorative blackletter type at centre, with the city arms of Ohligs superimposed on the initial letter; the issuer name "Stadt Ohligs" appears above in bold roman type, with the numeral 5.000.000 repeated in each upper corner. Below the denomination, a two-line redemption clause, the date "Ohligs, den 20. August 1923", a manuscript serial number with prefix, and the facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister are printed in letterpress; the printer's imprint of Wilhelm Müller Jr., G.m.b.H., Ohligs is typeset along the bottom margin.

Reverse description The reverse shares the same yellow-ochre spiral guilloche underprint and multi-rule geometric border in blue-black. The numeral "5.000.000" is printed in bold at the top centre, beneath which a rectangular panel carries the denomination "Fünf Millionen Mark" in large bold roman type over a repeated pale yellow text underprint of the same words. Two classicising female figures in blue-grey letterpress vignettes flank the central panel, one at each side within the inner border. Below the panel, a two-line authority inscription in serif type references the authorising decree of the Reichsfinanzministerium.
