Obverse description Laureate bust of Galba facing right, surrounded by a continuous Latin legend. An etched countermark denoting a revaluation to 42 Nummi appears in the right field, applied by Ostrogothic authorities over the original Roman imperial type. The portrait is rendered in the standard late Julio-Claudian to early Flavian style characteristic of Galba's brief reign. The countermark is clearly delineated and partially overlaps the surrounding legend.
