Obverse description Highly stylized and schematic figure of the goddess Lakshmi seated in padmasana (lotus position) with crossed legs, rendered in the bold, abstracted die-cutting style characteristic of medieval Indian coinage. The deity is depicted frontally, with clearly articulated limbs and a pronounced headdress rendered as a cluster of raised globules at the crown. Flanking decorative elements and a beaded border frame the central motif. The overall execution reflects the highly conventionalized artistic tradition of Kalachuri dynastic coinage.
