| Obverse description | Central vignette of Hercules seated between two lions, flanked by the motto PLUS ULTRA on columns, executed in fine intaglio engraving. To either side, large oval guilloche panels bear the denomination numeral 4,000 Rs. Vn., with serial numbers below each panel. The bank title BANCO DE CADIZ. runs across the top in ornate letterpress script within decorative scrollwork borders. The lower half carries the promise text in calligraphic script followed by three manuscript signatures and the date Cádiz, 1 de Diciembre 1847. |

Several administrative cancellation and liquidation stamps have been applied, including a violet oval stamp reading BANCO DE CADIZ EN LIQUIDACION, a black rectangular stamp EN LIQUIDACION, and a red square stamp, along with handwritten annotations and manuscript signatures indicating the note was redeemed and processed through the bank's liquidation proceedings. |
