| Obverse description | The national emblem of the People's Republic of China occupies the upper central field, depicting Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars — one large star flanked by four smaller stars — all encircled by wreaths of grain bound at the base by a cogwheel. Below the emblem, two horizontal lines of Chinese characters read 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) and 成立三十周年 (30th Anniversary of the Founding), with the commemorative dates 1949–1979 inscribed beneath in Arabic numerals. The entire design is framed by a finely milled border of repeating loop-shaped denticles running around the full circumference of the obverse. |
