| Obverse description | The central field displays the state emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea: a stylized landscape featuring a hydroelectric dam, an electricity pylon, and Mount Paektu in the background, all surmounted by a five-pointed star radiating rays, and flanked by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon.
