| Obverse description | The obverse features a bimetallic composition in which the brass centre displays the arms of Somaliland — a shield flanked by laurel branches with scales of justice and two birds, surmounted by a diagonal band — within a polished field, with the date 2005 incused at the base of the central disc. The copper-nickel square outer ring carries, in the upper field, the legend REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND and below it the word PEACE in raised Latin lettering. To the lower-left corner of the ring, a relief depiction of the Israeli national flag bearing the Star of David is visible, while the upper-right corner features a dove in flight carrying an olive branch, symbolising peace. The denomination 400 SOMALILAND SHILLINGS appears in raised lettering along the lower border of the square flan. |
