The Banco de España did not issue a 400 Escudos note in 1871, and no such denomination exists in the confirmed catalog of Spanish state or bank issues from the escudo period. Spain transitioned from the escudo to the peseta system in 1868–1869, making a new escudo-denominated issue in 1871 anomalous on its face. The word "replica" in the catalog name is doing significant work here — this is almost certainly a later reproduction or commemorative facsimile, not a circulating instrument.
