背面描述	Central device depicts the Portuguese royal coat of arms — featuring the traditional escutcheon with five inescutcheons and the bordure of castles — superimposed upon an armillary sphere, symbolising Portugal's maritime heritage and overseas dominions. A small mintmark appears at the base of the sphere below the shield. The circumferential legend 'PECUNIA·TOTUM CIRCUMIT·ORBEM' ('Money goes around the whole world') runs around the beaded border, a motto particularly apt for a colonial coinage. The outer rim is reeded.
