| 裏面の説明 | The reverse of the host coin bears the royal title legend of Pedro II of Portugal in Latin around the full circumference of the field, reading 'PETRVS·II·D·G·PORTVG·R·D·ÆTHIOP', with the central field hosting the applied 1809 countermark: a punched Portuguese royal shield (coat of arms), struck by decree of April 18, 1809, under the authority of Prince Regent João, doubling the face value of the host coin from 20 to 40 Réis for circulation in Angola. The countermark is boldly impressed and clearly legible against the worn reverse field. |
