Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborate tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I, rendered in ornate calligraphic style and occupying the central field, with decorative floral and foliate elements — including a stylised branching plant with roundels — visible to the right. Below the tughra, the regnal year appears in Arabic numerals. Prominently applied in the lower portion of the field is the rectangular municipal countermark of Telonia (present-day Antissa, Lesbos), bearing the Greek legend 'ΤΕΛ' in bold Latin-style capitals. The host coin retains its original milled border. The countermark identifies the coin as having been authorised for local circulation by the municipality.
