Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, depicted in imperial military attire with elaborately decorated cuirass visible at the lower portion of the effigy. The portrait is rendered in the frontal-to-three-quarter Byzantine style characteristic of early Justinianic coinage. A circular legend in Latin runs along the coin's periphery, reading D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVG. The overall style reflects the transition from late Roman to Byzantine portraiture, with bold, stylized facial features typical of hammered copper issues from the Constantinople mint.
