Reverse description Large denomination mark M (denoting 40 nummi) prominently displayed in the centre of the field, flanked on each side by a star. A cross surmounts the M above, and the officina letter Δ (denoting the fourth workshop) appears beneath. The exergual inscription ☩THЄЧP identifies the mint of Theopolis (Antioch on the Orontes). The design is contained within a dotted border, with the broad, deeply struck M typical of the Antioch mint during the reign of Justinian I.
