Reverse description Central field dominated by the large Greek numeral M (denoting 40 nummi), flanked on either side by six-pointed stars in the left and right fields. A cross surmounts the M at the apex, while the officina letter A appears below the M, indicating the first workshop. The mint signature ☩THЄЧP☩, referring to Theopolis (Antioch on the Orontes), is inscribed in the exergue. The overall composition is bold and schematic, typical of the reformed Anastasian and Justinianic bronze coinage.
