| Reverse description | Large module mark M (denoting 40 nummi) occupying the majority of the reverse field, surmounted by a cross potent above the crossbar. To the left of the M the vertical inscription ANNO is divided across two lines, and to the right the regnal year numeral XXI (year 21) appears in two lines. Beneath the crossbar of the M, the officina letter Γ (third workshop) is centered. In the exergue, the mint signature 9HЧΠº (Theopolis, i.e. Antioch on the Orontes) is inscribed in a combination of Greek-derived characters, identifying the place of manufacture. |
