| Obverse description | Facing busts of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, both crowned and wearing consular robes; Heraclius, the elder emperor, is depicted on the left holding a cross potent on globe, while the young co-emperor stands to the right, similarly attired with a cross above his crown. Both figures are shown frontally in the hieratic Byzantine imperial style, rendered in bold, schematic relief typical of early seventh-century provincial coinage. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N HERACLIVS ET HER C AVG, identifying the two Augusti. The flan is irregular and shows evidence of an overstrike on an earlier issue. |
