| Obverse description | Two imperial figures standing facing in full length: at left, Emperor Constans II holding a long cross in his right hand, and at right, co-emperor Constantine IV holding a globus cruciger. Both emperors are depicted in frontal military attire in the schematic, hieratic style characteristic of Syracuse mint issues of this period. The design is notably crude in execution, reflecting provincial workshop production. |

| Reverse description | Large denomination mark M (numeral for 40 nummi) occupying the central field, rendered in the broad, angular style typical of Syracuse folles of this reign. Above the M, a TKw monogram is prominently placed. Below the M, the mint signature SCL appears in the exergue, identifying the Syracuse mint. The overall design is typical of the debased provincial coinage struck in Sicily during the later reign of Constans II. |
