| Popis rubu | Central large denomination mark M (Greek numeral for 40), boldly struck in the field, denoting the value of 40 nummi. A six-pointed star appears to the left of the M, and a cross potent or patriarchal cross is positioned to the upper right. Below the M, the officina letter epsilon (ϵ) identifies the fifth workshop of the Constantinople mint. The exergual inscription CON identifies the mint of Constantinopolis. The overall reverse design follows the standard reformed follis type introduced by Anastasius I in 498 AD. |
