| Beschrijving keerzijde | Large Greek numeral M (signifying 40 nummi) dominates the centre of the reverse, boldly struck and occupying most of the field. A cross potent rises from between the two upper strokes of the M, a distinctive feature of the Anastasian coinage reform of 498 AD. The mint abbreviation CON (for Constantinopolis) appears in the exergue below the M, with no officina letter present on this small-module variety. The overall design is austere and functional, consistent with the standardised reverse type introduced by Anastasius I to clearly denote the denomination of the reformed follis coinage. |
