Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Anastasius I facing right, rendered in the late antique imperial tradition. The diadem is pearl-studded, and the cuirass is partially visible at the shoulder. The effigy is depicted in relatively high relief against a flat field, with visible beaded border along the coin's periphery. The imperial legend encircles the bust, reading D N ANASTASIVS P P AVG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster and Perpetuus Augustus.
