Obverse description The obverse is printed in black and red on buff paper and carries a large heraldic double-headed eagle vignette to the left, overlaid with a bold red diagonal cross. To the upper right, the denomination is expressed in Gothic Fraktur script as 'Vierzig Heller', with the numeral '40' and Heller abbreviation 'H' in large display type forming the central value panel. The redemption text, validity date of 31 December 1920, and the issuer's name 'Kurgemeinde Igls in Tirol' appear in the lower central field, flanked below by signature lines for the Kassier and Bürgermeister; the edition designation '4 Auflage' is printed in red below the main frame.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in olive-green and black on buff paper and centres on an oval vignette of the pilgrimage chapel and farmstead at Heilig Wasser, rendered in fine line engraving with coniferous trees in the foreground and a steepled turret to the right; the caption 'HEILIG WASSER' appears beneath the scene within the oval. Large numerals '4' and '0' are set into the upper corners of the decorative border frame, with additional corner numerals in the lower angles. A rectangular legend panel at the foot reads 'Kassenschein der Kurgemeinde Igls in Tirol' in Gothic script, and the printer's imprint 'WAGNER, INNSBRUCK.' appears at lower left.
