Opmerkingen

Steyregg is a small market town on the Danube just east of Linz, and its 1920 Heller notes belong to the vast Austrian Notgeld phenomenon — an almost total breakdown of small-denomination coinage circulation in the years following the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy. Municipalities, businesses, and civic bodies across the former empire printed their own emergency scrip because the new Austrian state simply could not supply enough coin to keep local commerce moving.

Three signatories authenticate this note: the Bürgermeister, the Vizebürgermeister, and a third official whose abbreviated "g.a." designation suggests an authorized representative acting on behalf of the municipal council.
