Reverse description A large, stylized African tribal mask dominates the field, rendered in high relief with carefully delineated facial features including almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, and a structured lower jaw with decorative chin ornament. The mask is surmounted by an elaborate headdress composed of radiating ridged elements above a beaded diadem, filling the upper field. The legend 'AFRIQUE CENTRALE' arcs around the periphery in Latin capitals, flanking the mask on either side. The engraver's name 'CORBIN' appears incuse at the lower left of the mask. A beaded border frames the entire design, consistent with the modernist aesthetic employed throughout this pattern series.
