Reverse description The crowned royal coat of arms of France, displaying three fleurs-de-lis on a shield surmounted by a royal crown, occupies the central field. Two laurel branches (Laurus nobilis) flank the shield symmetrically, their stems tied together with a ribbon at the base. The denomination 40 F and the date appear within or around the design, with the mint mark placed to indicate the issuing facility. A toothed border surrounds the entire composition.
