正面描述 A Spanish Republican postage stamp affixed to the cardboard disc serves as the obverse. The stamp depicts a left-facing allegorical female bust representing the Republic, rendered in rose-red ink with fine line engraving. The denomination '40 CTS' appears in the upper right corner of the stamp, with 'CORREOS' inscribed vertically along the right edge. The legend 'REPUBLICA ESPAÑOLA' runs along the lower margin of the stamp. The perforated edges of the stamp are visible against the plain grey cardboard field.

附加信息

Soneja is a small municipality in the comarca of Alto Palancia, and like dozens of similarly sized Valencian towns in the summer of 1936, it faced an acute shortage of small change almost immediately after the military uprising fractured normal commerce. The Republican government's inability to guarantee coin supply to rural municipalities pushed local ayuntamientos to authorize their own emergency fractional currency — cardboard being the material of necessity, not choice.

These local Civil War issues were produced in tiny quantities for purely local circulation, often hand-stamped or printed with minimal equipment. Most were withdrawn and destroyed once central Republican currency resupplied the region.
