Reverse description The reverse of the French host écu displays the crowned royal arms of France, comprising the fleur-de-lis shield, flanked by decorative laurel or olive branches. A cow mintmark appears in the exergue, identifying the French mint of origin. The Bernese counterstamp denoting the authorized value of 40 Batzen is applied to this side, with the value inscription '40 BZ' forming part of the stamped device. The circumferential legend includes the pious dedication 'SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTUM' along with the host coin's date of 1787.
