| Reverse description | Central device depicts a large scaly sea monster with a gaping jaw and coiled tail rising from turbulent waves to attack a period caravel, its masts and rigging in disarray, evoking the perils faced by Columbus's fleet during the Age of Discovery. The dramatic scene is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the creature's scales and the ship's tackle. All enclosed within a beaded circle. The circular legend QVINTO:CENTENARIO arcs across the upper field, referencing the fifth centennial of the Discovery of America.
