| 正面描述 | The national arms of the Lao People's Democratic Republic occupy the central field, depicting the Pha That Luang stupa flanked by stylized grain sheaves and a decorative ribbon bearing the state name in Lao script. A beaded inner border separates the arms from the outer legend. The country name arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script reading LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, while the lower portion bears the fineness designation AU 999, the face value 40000 KIP, and the weight 15.55, with the Moscow Mint privy mark visible at the right. |

Issued to mark the 40th anniversary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, proclaimed on December 2, 1975, following the Pathet Lao's absorption of the Royal Lao Government after the communist victories across Indochina that year. The denomination figure mirrors the face value in kip — a currency so heavily inflated that 40,000 kip represented only a few US dollars at the time of issue, making the gold content worth several hundred times the nominal face value.
