| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts Saint Mark the Evangelist, nimbed and seated facing, extending his right hand in blessing toward the kneeling Doge Alvise Mocenigo III, who is shown in full ducal regalia including the characteristic corno ducale, receiving the gonfalon — a long staff topped with a patriarchal cross — from the saint. The composition follows the traditional Venetian zecchino iconographic convention, with the two figures flanking the central staff. The surrounding legend, reading ALOYS·MOCENI·S·M·VENET·DVX, is distributed across the field and outer border, with a beaded inner circle framing the design. |
