Obverse description Johann Georg I, Elector of Saxony, depicted in full armor as an equestrian figure mounted on a prancing horse moving to the right, holding an upright sword in his right hand. The horse and rider are rendered in high relief with finely engraved detail on the armor and saddlecloth, with a landscape visible in the lower field beneath the horse. The surrounding legend in Latin runs along the beaded inner border of the coin.
